Adventure: New Orleans, Day 2

Oliver playing with last night's loot

Alligator Po'Boy.  Why don't they sell alligator in California?  It is like our favorite meat ever, after bacon of course!

Gumbo Time!

Pontalba Apartment Buildings, first apartments in the United States

He slept through all these crazy loud bands!  I don't know how!

Beignets, the best things ever!

Jackson Square

Oysters Rockefeller, yikes.

Krewe of Muses Parade

Exhausted after a long day
We started out the day on a ride on the famous St. Charles Streetcar, which was packed to the brim with tourists like us.  We walked the rest of the way to the French Quarter, enjoying the stores and shops along the route.  Lunch was at Johnny's Po'Boys and was so freakin' good!  We walked around Jackson Square, enjoying all the bands and art.  We saw the building where Tennessee Williams wrote a Streetcar Named Desire, and the building William Faulkner lived.  We loved the beignets at Cafe du Monde.  I think those were Ollie's favorite thing about the whole trip!  We enjoyed pralines in the French Market, and as a special treat for Jason's 30th Birthday today, he had his first oysters ever at Felix's.  Let's just say we won't be getting oysters again anytime soon!  Birthday cake was white chocolate bread pudding from VooDoo BBQ while watching the Krewe of Muses Parade!  To top it all off I caught on of the coveted Muses decorated shoes during the parade!  All the other women were so jealous!
